Graduate Programs in Counseling & Psychology

More than a Classroom

At SNU, your clinical training isn’t separate from your classroom learning—it’s deeply connected. Through our partnership with Renew Counseling Center, students in the MS in Counseling Psychology program gain hands-on experience in a working clinic, where theory and practice come together in real time. As Curtis, a recent MSCP graduate, shared: “There’s no disconnect between the academics and the actual practice. I get to see my professors in the clinic every day—they’re not just grading papers, they’re showing me how it’s done in the room with a client.”

Renew serves both the community and our students, offering a respectful, faith-informed environment focused on healing, wholeness, and growth. Whether you’re observing seasoned clinicians, asking a quick question in between sessions, or leading your own client work under supervision, you’ll be learning from a team that is deeply invested in your development—not just as a professional, but as a person.

Why Earn Your Graduate Degree at SNU?

"The Graduate Programs in Counseling at SNU focuses on ensuring that upcoming clinicians address their own personal traumas, biases, and limitations. It encourages you to not only evolve as a clinician, but also to evolve as a person. My favorite quote from a professor in the program was, 'Great therapists have a therapist.' This program prepares individuals for licensure. I am so grateful for the environment that the GPC promotes."

Your Guide to Admissions

The faculty and administration of the Graduate Programs in Counseling and Psychology are dedicated to thoroughly preparing future counselors. As a result, the application process is comprehensive and plays a crucial role in both admissions and education.

Our primary focus is selecting candidates who have the potential to become outstanding counselors. We do not require the GRE, as we believe in evaluating applicants beyond standardized test scores. Instead, our admissions process is designed to understand each applicant as an individual, ensuring a mutual fit between the candidate and our program.

We are confident that our program is rigorous, upholds high academic and professional standards, and effectively equips students for the diverse challenges of counseling. We seek students who can thrive academically, think critically, and engage with individuals from various backgrounds. Our accelerated format is designed to provide top-tier training while allowing students to enter the field as quickly as possible.
